Facts about Ljubljana
Both residents and numerous visitors perceive Ljubljana as a city made to the measure of man. Ljubljana is classified as a mid-sized European city, but it has preserved its small-town friendliness and relaxed atmosphere while providing all the facilities of a modern capital. It is a very unique city dotted with pleasant picturesque places where you can expect all kinds of nice little surprises. Due to its geographical position, Ljubljana is a perfect base for exploring the many faces and beauties of Slovenia.
Conference Venue
All Conference activities will take place at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, address Jamnikarjeva 101, 1000 Ljubljana), click here for more informatio on how to get there. The Conference will be conveniently located in the Faculty's main building in the faculty campus, the location will be signposted and will be impossible to miss once you are there 😀
Getting around Ljubljana and accommodation:
City buses are operated by Ljubljanski potniški promet (LPP). The most convenient connection from the city centre to the Conference site (Biotechnical Faculty, Jamnikarjeva 101, Ljubljana) is with the Line 14. More information about the public transport network and tickets here.
The Bicikelj self-service bicycle hire network consists of 30 docking stations located within the greater Ljubljana city centre. To be able to use the Bicikelj system, online registration on the Bicikelj website

The conference organisers are trying to get preferential rates for a selection of the nearby hotels, we will get back to the information on this through the news on the ÖGA and DAES websites. Most conveniently located for car travellers is probably Four Point by Sheraton Mons**** hotel, but there is a number of other options for you according to your personal preferences.
Opening times of public facilities:
- Banks MON–FRI 9:00–17:00 (most of the banks close their branches starting at 12:00 for one hour). You can withdraw cash 24 hours a day from ATMs around the town. ATMs and POS payment systems are extremely common in shops (MasterCard, Visa, Maestro, Cirrus, and Visa Electron Plus are widely accepted).
- Shops MON–FRI 9:00–19:00; SAT 9:00–13:00 (Many grocery shops until 19:00); SUN Closed.
- Pharmacies: MON–FRI 7:00–19:00, SAT 7:00–13:00 (the nearest 24-hour pharmacy is Lekarna pri Polikliniki, Njegoševa cesta 6k, tel. +386 1 230 61 00).
- Emergency medical services: For rescue and emergency services, dial 112 (calls are free of charge).
